| Our History We at Compton Furniture of Burlington, North Carolina, are proud to be celebrating 50+ years in business (founded 1959). Our success has been due in large part to our loyal customers, so we thank you.
The other aspect of our success is based on our humble beginnings. In 1959, our parents, Fred and Laverne Compton, bought a used furniture store and began the journey we now share. Originally called The Salvage House, they started from scratch, selling anything and everything. Located in the old Lowe Funeral Home at 344 N. Main St., they provided folks with quality used furniture and appliances. Many a newlywed on a limited budget, made their first furniture purchase with us. We recognized that to be successful, along with hard work, we must always provide the public with a value and do it with integrity.
In 1968, we moved into a new brick building in our present location at 418 N. Main St. It was then that we started stocking and selling new furniture in combination with used. By 1990, we were selling all new merchandise. In 1992 we expanded our building to double its size, in order to provide a wider range of furniture lines. We now carry quality lines like Craftmaster, Catnapper, Universal, Vaughan-Bassett, Elite Lamps, and Sealy Posturepedic mattresses.
Thank you again for sharing this blessing with us!
Russell, David, and Laverne Compton
